Carolina Volleyball Defeats Georgia Tech 3-2

CHAPEL HILL-- The North Carolina Tar Heels burst into the Atlantic Coast Conference with a defeat against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at Carmichael Auditorium Friday night. Carolina finished its first ACC game of the season with a tight score of 3-2 (13-15, 9-15, 15-12, 15-3, 15-10). This improves their total season record to 11-2.
Ga. Tech led UNC into the third game with a score of 2-0, but a strong showing from Carolina's top players pushed them to win the next three games. Laura Greene led the hitters with 18 kills, 24 digs and two block assists. Nicole Reis followed close behind with 17 kills, 17 digs and two block assists. Krista Buchholz made her on-court presence known with 16 kills and 10 block assists.
The Yellow Jackets had strong performances by hitters Maja Pachale and Ky Bell, which kept the teams' hitting percentages close. Carolina hit .261 on the night while Ga. Tech hit .219.
The Tar Heels will host Clemson at 4 p.m. in Carmichael Auditorium Saturday, Sept. 23.
