UNC Field Hockey Tops Richmond, 4-1

RICHMOND, Va.-North Carolina jumped out to an early lead and never relinquished it in beating the University of Richmond 4-1 Saturday afternoon at Crenshaw Field. UNC is now 7-1 and plays at James Madison in Harrisonburg, Va., Sunday at 1 p.m.
Less than three minutes into Saturday's game, junior Abby Martin scored on a penalty corner, assisted by Abbey Woolley and Erin Cox. Senior Kristen McCann, assisted by Woolley, added a second goal for UNC in the first half.
Richmond's Heather Rice scored her team's only goal on a penalty stroke with no time remaining on the first half clock.
In the second half, McCann scored her second goal with 12:56 left to play. Less than a minute later, sophomore Meredith Keller scored her first career goal to put the Tar Heels up 4-1.
