Jeff Reed Comments
TarHeelBlue: Great game, Jeff. Was this a confidence builder?
Jeff Reed: "Yes, definitely. One thing I need to say is that I have the best line, best snapper and best holder. Those guys are a tremendous help to me. Without those guys, I can't do anything.
"Jason Beamon and Jason Helton do a great job snapping the ball, and Richard Moore is a really good holder.
"Without a good snap and a good hold, there's no way I can make a kick."
TarHeelBlue: Did you feel good about your kickoffs tonight?
Jeff Reed: "A lot better. I had been a little worried about not making good contact, but tonight I just let it rip. I just tried to kick it high and deep."
TarHeelBlue: You got a scholarship this week. How big is that for you?
Jeff Reed: "It's something I've striven for. It'll really help my parents out, that's a big aspect of it.
"It doesn't really change anything about my job. I can still lose it if I don't perform. I'm just going to try and keep doing what I've been doing.
"I found out about it on Wednesday before practice. It kind of got in my head a little bit, and I didn't kick that well in practice on Wednesday and Thursday, but everything's fine now."
TarHeelBlue: How did you find out about it?
Jeff Reed: "There was a big note in my locker that told me to see Rick Steinbacher. I had gotten a hint earlier in the week that I might get a scholarship, so I hoped that was what it would be."
TarHeelBlue: I assume you're definitely coming back next year?
Jeff Reed: "Oh definitely. I really look forward to being here again next year."
Kory Bailey Comments
TarHeelBlue: Ronald Curry said that 7-minute drive to end the game was the best drive he's ever had, period.
Kory Bailey: "That drive was really important, especially for the offensive line's confidence. That were opening some big holes, we were running through them, and we didn't have to pass the ball at all.
"It really, really helped us that they didn't have any timeouts.
TarHeelBlue: Did Ronald say anything special in the huddle to start the drive?
Kory Bailey: "It was just like, 'let's go out and do it offensive line. Pound it down the field and wear them out.'
"The offensive line got it done. I was really impressed with them."
TarHeelBlue: Do you think Marshall overlooked you and concentrated on Bosley (Allen)?
Kory Bailey: "I don't think so. It does help take pressure off when Bosley makes a great play, but I don't think they were overlooking me.
"They gave me some short routes, and I got a couple of big runs on them."
TarHeelBlue: Can you tell me about your touchdown?
Kory Bailey: "It was a 10 or 12-yard in route. Ronald scrambled a little bit, and I saw the safety come up a bit, so I backed up about five yards.
"I was the inside receiver on the play. Sam (Aiken) was the outside receiver with an under route. He went under, I went up and in."
TarHeelBlue: Is this the offense we've been waiting for Coach O'Cain to show?
Kory Bailey: "We're still not there. We did some good things tonight, but there's a whole lot more we need to work on.
"We didn't live up to Coach O'Cain's expectations or our own tonight. We know we can play a lot better than that."
