Brooke Wilson Receives EAGL Honors

CHAPEL HILL, NC - North Carolina Senior Brooke Wilson has been named East Atlantic Gymnast League (EAGL) Gymnast of the Week. Wilson led the Tar Heels in their season-opening victory over William & Mary on Jan. 14. Wilson won the all-around competition in addition to placing first in each event. She compiled a 39.375 all-around score to finish first with winning scores on the vault (9.825), bars (9.775), beam (9.925) and floor exercise (9.85).
"Brooke displayed her exceptional athletic talent and strong leadership skills on Sunday," said UNC gymnastics coach Derek Galvin.
Co-winner of the 2000 EAGL Gymnast of the Year Award, Wilson has now received the EAGL Gymnast of the Week five times in her four years at UNC. Wilson holds UNC school records on bars (9.925), beam (9.950), floor (9.975) and all-around (39.425). Her all-around score at William & Mary was just 0.50 points off the record she set against the University of Rhode Island.
