Carolina Gymnastics Loses to Third Ranked Georgia

ATHENS, Ga--The University of North Carolina gymnastics team lost to third ranked Georgia 196.500-191.425. The Tar Heels' had solid performances in front of a capacity crowd of 9,951 in Stegeman Coliseum.
Freshman Maddy Curley scored a 9.775 on beam and a 9.775 on floor to place second in the all-around with a 38.70. Junior Monica Middleton finished third in the all-around with a score of 38.575 after placing fifth on beam (9.775) and floor (9.775) and sixth on vault (9.675).
Senior Brooke Wilson finished fifth on vault with a score of 9.725. Junior Lisa Companioni tied for fifth on balance beam with a 9.775. Freshman Skylar Inman preformed well on bars scoring a 9.600.
Carolina hosts N.C State, Maryland and Towson for the fifth annual Governors Cup on Saturday, Feb. 3 in Carmichael Auditorium at 1 p.m. This meet will be the Tar Heels' first home meet.
