Red-Shirt freshman center Neil Fingleton:

On traveling home:
"I got to spend about a month at home. My mom was happy to see me."

On his role on the team:
"My role is going to be playing hard when I get in there, to be big in the middle, contest shots, rebound and try to score when I get the ball on the low block. I have to run the floor, play hard, and I'll be happy to contribute."

On his red-shirt year:
"I couldn't really do a lot, being hurt. It was tough sitting and watching. My back feels a lot better now. Finally I'm healthy, and it's probably the most excited I've ever been about a season. I'm just happy to be healthy and really happy to be back playing."

On how much he was able to practice last year:
"I started practice in February, I had tried to come back in November, but re-aggravated my back."
