Brian Morrison Quotes
October 17, 2001 | Men's Basketball
Sophomore guard Brian Morrison
Role this year compared to last:
"I'll probably do the same things [bring the ball up and fill in at the two], coach wants me to play both positions, and I'll probably just be in the game more doing the same things I did last year, and hopefully doing it better."
On his speed:
"Yeah, I think I did [get ahead of myself sometimes]. Now I'm trying to slow down a little bit--play under control, [push it] at the right times and not all the time."
On the strengths of his game:
"Probably quickness and shooting, making plays."
On scoring void left by Forte:
"I'm not stepping in just trying to score, if coach wants me to score I'm going to try to do that."
On the freshmen:
"They're very athletic, they're very good shooters. I think almost every guy on our team can shoot the three, I don't know if Coach will let them but I know they can do it."
On improving defensively:
"I think we'll probably pressure more, play more pressure defense. We're going to be faster and quicker, we're going to be able to get in the lanes, hopefully get some steals and get easier buckets. I think that might be a difference from last year, I think you might see us get some easier buckets because last year, sometimes, we really had to work hard for points."
On being on the bench last year:
"Of course it's an adjustment, I'm hoping to play as much as I can [this year] and get in there and do what I can to help the team. I'm confident in myself, I think it's going to be a different year for me. I think I can contribute a lot more on the floor. Ronald and Joe are gone, that's 80 minutes and it's got to go somewhere. The door is open, and it's your choice to go through it."
