
Men's Soccer Wins Eighth in a Row

Raleigh, N.C. - The No. 7-ranked University of North Carolina men's soccer team won its eighth consecutive game on Sunday afternoon, defeating NC State, 4-0, at Method Road Soccer Stadium. The Tar Heels netted their first goal 15 minutes into the game, and recorded their eighth shutout this season, including the fourth shutout in a row.
Logan Pause got North Carolina (12-2, 3-1 ACC) on the scoreboard at the 14:28 mark when he fired a shot from 18 yards out the beat NC State (3-10, 0-5 ACC) keeper Mitchell Watson. The assist went to David Testo.
UNC then notched the second goal of the contest when NC State's Chiedu Chukwumah knocked a cross into the Pack net for an own goal. The Tar Heels were up 2-0 at the half.
UNC would add a third goal in the 63rd minute. Raymond Fumo crossed the ball to Ryan Kneipper into the NC State box. Kneipper trapped the ball down and fed Testo for the goal.
Kneipper would tally his own goal with under two minutes to play off of an assist from Mike Gell.
The Tar Heels outshot the Pack 21-8 on the day. UNC's Michael Ueltschey registered four saves for the shutout, while NC State's Watson finished with nine saves.
Carolina returns to action this Wednesday at 7 p.m. for a home date against Old Dominion at Fetzer Field.
