The meeting will be the first of four between Central Division rival Pistons and Raptors this season. Two of the most electrifying scorers in the game, Carter ranks fifth in the NBA, scoring 26.8 ppg for third-place Toronto, while Stackhouse is tied for eighth, leading second-place Detroit with 24.3 ppg.

O'Neal leads the NBA in scoring at 30.0 ppg while Bryant is third at 27.7 ppg. Jamison and the Warriors have the eighth-best record in the tough Western Conference but will really have to earn it to get a win over the 9-1 Lakers who share the league's best record with Minnesota at the start of the week.

It will be the teams' first meeting since Philadelphia advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals as Vince Carter's last-second shot in Game 7 of last year's second round glanced off the back of the rim. That day, May 20, 2001 was also the day Carter graduated from UNC. At the start of the week, the Sixers 5-5 and in third-place in the Atlantic Division, are currently riding a five-game winning streak and are undefeated since Iverson (24.6 ppg) joined the team on Nov. 10.
