Women's Basketball Hosts Successful Attendance Event Last Weekend

The North Carolina women's basketball team hosted another exciting Wachovia Challenge Event on Sunday, falling to Florida State 80-78 in overtime. The game marked senior day for the team and helped to ignite a great crowd.

The attendance of 5,275 screaming fans more than doubled the goal of 2,500 set for the seventh Challenge Event of the season. Wachovia would like to thank all of the great fans that came out to support the Tar Heels.

During the game, Wachovia sponsored "The Wachovia Bank Shot Tuition Contest." Four UNC students were selected to compete in a free throw shooting contest to win free books for a semester, a $450 value. Each contestant had thirty seconds to shoot as many free throws as they could. Tanner Bond, a freshman Journalism/Mass Communications major, won the contest. Wachovia also donated $450 to the General Scholarship Fund for Women's Athletics.

Wachovia is proud to foster the growth of women's sports at UNC through its Wachovia World of Women's Sports.
