Tar Heel Men's Tennis Preps For South Florida Bulls

Chapel Hill, NC - After an impressive 6-1 victory over South Carolina on Saturday, the 2001 Carolina men's tennis team is ready to continue its winning ways this Friday at 3:00 p.m. against South Florida.
The Tar Heels will host the Bulls in Chapel Hill. The match will be played at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center which is located on highway 54 behind the Friday Center. The meeting will mark the third time in school history that the Tar Heels have met the Bulls. Carolina leads the all-time series 2-0.
Coming off the South Carolina victory, the Heels are now 3-1 on the season. The 3-1 South Florida Bulls are coming off of their first loss of the season after a 4-3 defeat against the Auburn Tigers. The Bulls had previously won all three of their matches by 6-1 scores.
The Tar Heels continue to enjoy strong performances from freshman Nicholas Monroe and sophomore Greg Archer, who both are undefeated in singles play at 4-0. Monroe has seen action at the #4 and #3 singles slots while Archer has held down the #6 position. Senior David Cheatwood has also added to the Tar Heel's success. Cheatwood's singles victory against David Nelson of South Carolina marked his 50th career singles win as a Tar Heel.
Friday's match is the first of two weekend matchups for the Heels. On Saturday at 1:00 the Heels will host Tulsa for the school's second ever meeting. The Heels were victorious in their inaugural meeting with the Golden Hurricane.
