Feb. 28, 2001
* Carolina's win is the Tar Heels'13th ACC win of the season and assures UNC of the No. 1 seed in the ACC Tournament. This is the first time Carolina will enter the ACC Tournament as the top seed since 1993. It is the 18th time the Tar Heels will be the No. 1 seed.
* The Tar Heels have clinched a share of the ACC regular-season championship. This is the 23rd time UNC has won at least a share of the ACC regular-season crown. It is UNC's first first-place finish since 1995.
* A win over Duke on Sunday would give Carolina its first outright ACC regular-season title since 1993.
* The Tar Heels have won 13 ACC games for the first time since going 13-3 in 1997-98 and the sixth time in history UNC has won at least 13 in a season.
* Matt Doherty is the first coach to win at least a share of the ACC regular-season championship in his first season as an ACC head coach.
* Ronald Curry scored a career-high 14 points. His previous high was 13 against Georgia Tech two years ago. Curry equaled his season high of 11 in the first half tonight.
* Joseph Forte scored 27 points, the ninth time this season he has scored 25 or more points and the third straight game in which he has done that. In those three games, Forte is 37 of 71 from the floor (52.1 percent).
* Brendan Haywood blocked five shots tonight to increase his season-total to a school record 103. He is the first Tar Heel to ever block at least 100 shots in a season and the ninth ACC player to accomplish that. He is tied for 15th place in ACC single-season history with Ralph Sampson (1983).
* Carolina held NC State to 37.3 percent from the floor. That is the 22nd straight game in which UNC has limited the opponents to less than 50 percent shooting from the floor.
* Carolina held State to under 40 percent shooting from the floor in both halves. That marks the 10th time this year UNC has held an opponent to less than 40 percent shooting in both halves.
* The Tar Heels shot 57.1 percent from the floor for the game and 61.5 percent in the second half. It is the sixth time in the last 10 games UNC has shot at least 50 percent from the floor.
Carolina's four three-pointers were the fewest this season (previous low was six vs. NC State on Jan. 28). It is the fewest three-point attempts since UNC beat Duke 97-73 on Feb. 5, 1998.
