
Dellacamera And UNC's Gebauer To Announce For TNT And CNN/SI's WUSA Games

ATLANTA, GA. - Well-known soccer voices JP Dellacamera and analyst Wendy Gebauer, a former All-America player at the University of North Carolina, will be the announce team for Turner Network Television (TNT) and CNN/Sports Illustrated's Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA) schedule, which includes 22 games from April 14 to Aug. 25. Each network will air 11 games, with TNT televising two semifinal games and the WUSA Championship game. Turner Sports Executive Producer Mike Pearl made the announcement today.
"JP and Wendy have worked with these outstanding players for years now, and we're thrilled to have them on our team as we launch the inaugural WUSA season," said Pearl. "They will provide experience, energy, knowledge and a sense of familiarity to our viewers."
Dellacamera has been involved in soccer broadcasting since 1980. His soccer experience includes work on the last four Men's Soccer World Cup events, the last two Women's Soccer World Cup events and as the Women's National team television voice since 1994, among others. In addition, he has called NHL playoff games for the St. Louis Blues and the NHL on ESPN and has worked as play-by-play voice for the Missouri Valley Conference and the Kansas Jayhawks. He also has covered the NBA, doing weekly games on ESPN International for the last five years.
Gebauer is a three-time Women's Soccer National Champion at UNC, who played for the United States National Team from 1987-1991, winning the World Championship in 1991. She finished her soccer career as co-captain of the two-time National Championship W-League Raleigh Wings, from 1998-2000. Wendy has worked as a soccer analyst for ESPN and ABC's coverage of the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup, for Fox Sports Network and for North Carolina Public TV. She graduated from UNC in 1989 as a three-time All-American, a member of the Dean's List, an ACC-Academic Honor Roll member, and an Honor of the Golden Fleece member "the highest honorary society at UNC" along with Michael Jordan and WUSA player Mia Hamm. Currently a financial advisor for First Union Securities, Gebauer serves on UNC's General Alumni Association Board of Directors.
The WUSA national schedule includes 11 games each on TNT and CNN/Sports Illustrated, including two semifinal games and the WUSA championship game on TNT. This is the first of a four-year, exclusive national cable television agreement among the aforementioned networks and the WUSA.
