Gymnasts Fall Short at Florida Invitational

Gainesville, Fla.-- The University of North Carolina gymnastics team finished fourth with a 192.275 at the Florida Invitational. Utah placed first with a 196.750, host Florida finished second with a 196.525 and George Washington placed third with a 195.000.
Senior Brooke Wilson finished four in the all-around with a score of 39.050. Wilson finished 12th on vault (9.7250), 14th on bars (9.750), 12th on beam (9.775) and 12th on floor (9.800).
Top Carolina finishers juniors Monica Middleton and Lisa Companioni tied for ninth on vault with a 9.750. Companioni finished 11th on beam with a 9.800. Sophomore Fritzie Cathcart finished ninth on bars with a 9.800.
Carolina hosts the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Championships in the Dean E Smith Center Saturday, March 24 at 6 p.m.
