Women's Tennis Defeats Clemson 7-0 in ACC Conference Match

Clemson, SC. -- The University of North Carolina women's tennis team defeated the Clemson Tigers in ACC competition 7-0 on Saturday. The 20th-ranked Tar Heels won in convincing fashion winning all of the singles and doubles events. Carolina is now 14-5 overall and 5-2 in the ACC.
At number one doubles Kenderick Bunn and Kate Pinchbeck beat Clemson's Anna Svitskaya and Laurence Janey while teammates Marlene Mejia and Julie Rotondi defeated Ana Stiglic and Christina Oldock 8-1 at two doubles. Tar Heels Erin Niebling and Courtney Zalinski completed the doubles sweep with an 8-3 win over Milena Stanoycheva and Anna Dolinska.
In singles, UNC's Marlene Meija defeated Clemsons' top seeded Anna Savitskaya 6-2, 6-3 while teammate Julie Rotondi defeated the Tiger's seconded-seeded Christina Oldock 6-3, 6-3. At three singles, UNC's Kate Pinchbeck defeated Milena Stanoycheva 6-1, 6-0 and Kristin Koenig defeated Ana Stiglic 6-3, 7-5, at four singles. Carolina's fifth-seeded Elina Bairos defeated Laurence Jayet 6-1, 6-3 while sixth-seeded Tar Heel Courtney Zalinski defeated the Tigers' Sunnie Harmon 6-2, 6-2.
Carolina will next play Sunday April 15 in Atlanta taking on Georgia Tech. Play begins at 1 P.M.
