Parking Information For UNC Football Games
September 6, 2001 | Football
On behalf of The University of North Carolina I want to tell you how excited we are about the college football season and thank you for coming to Chapel Hill for the game. Many of you will be attending a game in Kenan Stadium for the first time and it is important to us you have an enjoyable experience. To that end, I encourage you to check out information regarding directions, general parking, handicap parking, banners, ticket entrances, alcohol consumption, etc... that will make your visit a pleasant one.
Information regarding these and other issues may be found here at TarHeelBlue.com and at the University's Public Safety web site.
Public parking for events at Kenan Stadium is extremely limited. However, the best way to get to the stadium is to make use of the park-and-ride lots located in and around Chapel Hill. There is plenty of available satellite lot parking and Chapel Hill Transit's park-and-ride system picks you up at those lots and drops you off near the stadium for a small fee. The park-and-ride lots are located at Carrboro Plaza Shopping Center, the Friday Center on Highway 54, Southern Village and University Mall.
If you are looking for an entertaining way to get ready for the game, please be sure to stop by Tar Heel Town at Polk Place. That's the main quad on the UNC campus. There will be our live pregame radio show, food and beverages, including North Carolina barbecue, big-screen televisions to watch other college football games, and activities for the kids. Tar Heel Town is a wonderful place for your family and friends to spend time together before kickoff no matter what team for whom you will be cheering.
We ask all our fans, both Tar Heel and opponent supporters alike, to please remember to tailgate responsibly.
If you have any questions regarding parking before you travel to Chapel Hill, feel free to call UNC Public Safety at (919) 962-4424 or the 24-hour Special Event Information line at (919) 558-5961. Remember to check out the University's Internet site listed above. We look forward to your visit and to an exciting football game.
Sincerely,
Dick Baddour
The University of North Carolina
Director of Athletics
