Track & Field Signee Named High School Athlete Of The Year

Track & Field signee Walter Henning was recently named the Boys High School Athlete of the Year by Track & Field News. Henning was also named the Boys High School Athlete of the Year in 2006 as a junior becoming just the second athlete to earn the award in back-to-back years. Joining Henning as an All-America were Brian Moore, Patience Coleman, Dominique Jackson, and Gabby Gioia.
All-Americas are selected on a basis of placing one of the top five performances in the country, combined with big wins in the championship season.
Henning set the top mark in the hammer throw at 255-11 and ranked fifth in the shot put (68-11 3/4) despite only throwing the hammer in the big meets. Henning was the only repeat All-America in the hammer throw.
rian Moore ranked fifth in the javelin earning himself All-America honors with a mark of 209-8.
Patience Coleman was also a repeat All-America ranking first in the high jump with a mark of 5-10 1/2. Coleman was the only junior a year ago to hit the six foot mark.
Dominique Jackson ranked second in the US in the 800 with a season-best time of 2:05.65.
Gabby Gioia ranked third in the nation in the heptathlon with a high-point total of 4,930 on the season.
