This Week's Featured Games:
Detroit at Minnesota (Monday, Jan. 7, 8:00 p.m., FSN, UPN 50, DTV): Jerry Stackhouse will lead his surprising Pistons into the Target Center to face the Timberwolves. Behind the brilliance of Stackhouse's season, the Pistons, at 16-15, have an early hold on a playoff spot in the East. The former Tar Heel is currently 15th in the NBA in points per game (22.1), tied for 22nd in assists per game (5.3) and fifth in free-throw percentage (.883). At 23-9, Minnesota is just a half game behind first-place San Antonio in the Midwest Division. If the Wolves were in the East, they would have the best record in the conference. As it is, they currently hold the fourth playoff spot in the West. Wolves' forward Kevin Garnett leads all Western Conference forwards in All-Star balloting on the strength of 20.9 ppg, 12.8 rpg and 5.6 apg.
Los Angeles Clippers at Washington (Tuesday Jan. 8, 7:00 p.m., CSN, FSN2): The Wizards enter this week winners of 12 of their last 14 games. Washington, at 17-14, is in third place in the Atlantic Division and holds the East's fifth playoff spot. Former Tar Heels Michael Jordan, Brendan Haywood and Hubert Davis help pace Washington. The Clippers are another team experiencing success for the first time in a while. With his remarkable knack for assist-making, point guard Jeff McInnis has directed this talented young team to an 18-15 record, sixth-best in the Western Conference. The two teams will clash in D.C.'s MCI Center on Tuesday night.
Los Angeles Clippers at Toronto (Sunday, Jan. 13, 3:00 p.m., CTV, DTV): Two former Tar Heel teammates will be reunited when two of the NBA 's most exciting teams clash in Canada. On Sunday afternoon, when Los Angeles travels to the Air Canada Center to face the Raptors, Clippers point guard Jeff McInnis and Toronto forward Vince Carter will face off. The two played together briefly at UNC in 1995-96 before McInnis entered the draft the following summer. Both teams enter the week at 18-15, and each are 6-4 in their last ten games. The Clippers are currently in a tough stretch where they will play 13 games in 17 days, with 11 of those contests being away from the Staples Center. They then return home for three games before heading back East for another seven-game trip.
Vince Carter (Toronto Raptors)
Last Week: Carter scored a team-high 24, but committed eight
turnovers in the Raptors' 109-89 home loss to the Lakers on Sunday. Carter
posted a game-high 34 points to go along with four rebounds, eight assists
and two steals in Toronto's 101-91 victory over Cleveland at home on Friday
night. He also posted a game-high 28 points in addition to pulling five
boards and dishing two assists in Toronto's 95-84 win at Portland on
Wednesday. Carter currently ranks fourth in the NBA in points per game
(25.8), fourth in three-point field goals made (75), seventh in minutes per
game (40.7), and 15th in steals per game (1.72).

Hubert Davis (Washington Wizards)
Last Week: Davis contributed seven points, one rebound and three
assists as a starter in Washington's 89-83 home victory over Chicago on
Friday night. He also put up 10 points, two boards and three assists in the
Wizards' 98-76 thrashing of first-place New Jersey at home on Monday night.
Washington has won 12 of its last 14 games and is in third place in the
Atlantic Division at 17-14. Davis currently ranks third in the NBA in
three-point field-goal percentage (.479).

Rick Fox (Los Angeles Lakers)
Last Week: Fox had three points, two rebounds and two assists in the
Lakers' 109-89 victory at Toronto on Sunday. He also had eight points, six
boards and two assists in a 116-86 win versus Phoenix on Friday. Fox tallied
a season-high 17 points to go along with seven rebounds, six assists, two
steals and two blocks in a an 87-86 win at Denver on Wednesday. Los Angeles
is now 26-4 and has the best record in the league.

Last Week: Haywood scored nine points, grabbed nine rebounds and
blocked two shots in Washington's 89-83 win versus the Bulls on Friday. He
also had three points, 13 boards and two blocks in the Wizards' 98-76 home
win over New Jersey last Monday. The Wizards, at 17-14, have won 12 of their
last 14 games coming into this week. Haywood currently ranks 13th in the NBA
in blocks per game (2.0), and seventh in offensive rebounds per 48 minutes
(5.8)

road loss at Orlando on Saturday. Jamison had a team-high 24 points, pulled
12 rebounds, dished four assists and made a steal and a block in a 114-02
loss at Charlotte on Thursday. The Warriors, at 12-22, are in seventh place
in the Pacific. Jamison currently ranks 31st in the NBA in points per game
(18.7) and 16th in total offensive rebounds (90).

three steals in Washington's 98-76 home win over New Jersey last Monday. The
Wizards are 17-14 and in third place in the Atlantic Division. Jordan
currently ranks eighth in the NBA in points per game (24.6) and first in the
league in field goal attempts per 48 minutes (31.48).

Portland on New Year's Day. The Clippers are 18-15 and are third in the
Pacific Division. McInnis is currently ranked 21st in the NBA in assists per

Raptors)
Last Week: Montross had his best game of the season in Sunday's
109-89 home loss to the Lakers. He posted season-highs of 10 points, eight
rebounds and 32 minutes played as a starter. On Friday night, Montross
tallied two points, four rebounds and a season-high two steals in a 101-91
win versus Cleveland. He had two points and two rebounds in Toronto's 95-84
road defeat of Portland on Wednesday. The Raptors are 18-15 and are third in
the Central Division at week's start.

Last Week: Stackhouse recorded a game-high 29 points to go with seven
rebounds and six assists in a 101-91 home victory over Cleveland on
Saturday. He tallied a team-high 29 points, four rebounds and six assists in
a 99-97 loss at Portland on Thursday. Stackhouse contributed 13 points, four
rebounds and four assists in a 97-85 loss at San Antonio on Wednesday night.
The Pistons, at 16-15, are in fourth place in the Central Division.
Stackhouse currently ranks 15th in the NBA in points per game (22.1) and

Toronto on Wednesday. Wallace scored 15 points, grabbed four rebounds and
dished two assists in a 112-97 road loss to the Clippers on New Year's Day.
The Blazers are 14-18 and in sixth place in the Pacific Division. Wallace
ranks 17th in the NBA in minutes per game (38.8), 14th in double-doubles
(13) and 14th in rebounds per game (8.8).

Denver is 10-21 and is in fifth place in the Midwest Division. Williams
ranks 16th in the NBA in offensive rebounds per 48 minutes (5.3) and 18th in
