Throughout the 2002-03 season, senior forward Jennifer Thomas will provide TarHeelBlue.com readers with an inside look at the Carolina women's basketball program. This installment is her first of the season.
Hello Tar Heel fans!!!
It feels so great to be getting back in the swing of things. During the season, I will write a weekly journal entry to keep all of you guys informed about what goes on behind the scenes. I will reflect on up and coming games, practices, and of course our BIG trip to Hawaii.
Right now we're getting ready for our first exhibition game against the Premiere Players (including some current WNBA/professional basketball players). To prepare for the stiff competition, we have had two scrimmages and numerous intense practice sessions. In my opinion, we look great at times. Our freshmen are adjusting to the college game well and our letterwinners from last year's squad are picking up and improving on where they left off. Even though we look unstoppable at times, we have a tendency to relax a little on defense. However, I assure you as one of the tri-captains, we will improve in this area as the season progresses.
Well, I am going to have to wrap this entry up - we have practice at 2:30 p.m. and I still have to lace up my ankle braces!! I hope to see each and every one of you on Sunday, November 3rd, at 2 p.m. for our exhibition game. However, if there is some insane reason that you will be unable to attend Sunday's game, please join us on Wednesday when we take on Athletes in Action (AIA) at 7 p.m. in Carmichael Auditorium. We, the Tar Heels, look forward to seeing all of you to kick off another great season!!
Adios,
Jennifer L. Thomas #10
