TONIGHT'S GAME: Maryland
* The Tar Heels return home after back-to-back road games and will host Maryland on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. in the Smith Center. The game will be televised nationally by Fox Sports Net as part of the Atlantic Coast Conference's Sunday night television package.
* The Tar Heels lead the series with Maryland, 107-49. The Terps downed Carolina, 112-79, last month in College Park. UNC swept a pair of meetings from the Terrapins last season. The Tar Heels have won four of their last six meetings with Maryland. Carolina is 11-5 against the Terps at the Smith Center and 50-14 overall at home against Maryland.
* Carolina is 4-7 at home this season. The seven losses are the most home defeats in a season in UNC history (the previous record was five).
* Tonight's guest analyst on the Fox Sports Net television broadcast is former Tar Heel star Walter Davis, who ranks ninth in school history with 1,863 points. Davis has his jersey honored in the Smith Center rafters as a member of the 1976 gold medal-winning U.S. Olympic team (coached by Dean Smith). After playing at Carolina and in the Olympics, Davis was the 1978 NBA Rookie of the Year and a five-time NBA All-Star.
* This year, the Tar Heels are eight games under .500 in a season for the first time in school history.
