"The sports world and the state of North Carolina lost a legend today with the passing of former Tar Heel football player Charlie "Choo-Choo" Justice.
"Through my affiliations with the University of North Carolina, I had the distinct pleasure of knowing Charlie as a friend for many years and the support and friendship that he showed me during my 17 years as Athletics Director at Carolina meant the world to me. His contributions to the University and intercollegiate athletics as a whole are immeasurable; however, as impressive as his accomplishments were on the field, they could not surpass the quality of the individual.
"Greatness and humility are too seldom linked, but they certainly were with Charlie. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, Sarah and the entire Justice family. We have all lost a very good friend."
