Week nine of the 2003 NFL season had some very bright moments for several former University of North Carolina football players.
Freddie Jones, playing in his seventh season in the NFL overall and second season with the Arizona Cardinals, had five receptions for 38-yards including one touchdown reception in the Cardinals' 17-14 victory over the Bengals.
Jeff Reed, in his second season with Pittsburgh, kicked three field goals of 33-, 21-, and 49- yards and one-point-after in the Steelers' 23-16 loss to the Seahawks.
Update on former Tar Heels in the Pros During Week Nine:
Sam Aiken, Buffalo Bills- Open Date.
Ethan Albright, Washington Redskins- substituted at long snapper in Washington's 21-14 loss to Dallas.
Dre` Bly, Detroit Lions-Not Active.
Alge Crumpler, Atlanta Falcons-started at tight end and had one reception for 10-yards the Falcons' 23-16 loss to the Eagles.
Ronald Curry, Oakland Raiders- substituted at wide receiver in the Raiders' 23-13 loss to the Lions.
Russell Davis, Arizona Cardinals- started at defensive end and one tackle in the Cardinals' 17-14 victory over the Bengals.
Kevin Donnalley, Carolina Panthers-started at offensive guard in Carolina's 14-10 loss to Houston.
Ebenbzer Ekuban, Dallas Cowboys- started at defensive end and had one assist in the Cowboys' 21-14 victory over the Redskins.
Greg Ellis, Dallas Cowboys- started at defensive end and had one tackle and one assist in the Cowboys' 21-14 victory over the Redskins.
enardo Harris, Baltimore Ravens- Injured Reserve.
William Henderson, Green Bay Packers- started at fullback and caught two passes for 19-yards and made four tackles on special teams in the Packers' 30-27 victory over the Vikings.
Zack Hilton, New Orleans Saints- Not Active.
Sedrick Hodge, New Orleans Saints- Not Active.
Vonnie Holliday, Kansas City Chiefs- Open date.
Leon Johnson, San Diego Chargers- substituted at running back and had three kickoff returns for 67-yards in the Chargers' 20-7 loss to the Bears.

rian Simmons, Cincinnati Bengals- started at linebacker and had five tackles and two assists in the Bengals' 17-14 loss to the Cardinals.

David Thornton, Indianapolis Colts- started at linebacker and had four tackles and three assists in Colts' 23-17 victory over the Dolphins.
