Tipoff: No. 8 UNC hosts FSU, Feb. 13
The University of North Carolina women's basketball team (21-2 overall, 10-1 ACC) returns to Carmichael Auditorium Thursday for a 7 p.m. tipoff against Florida State (15-6, 7-3). In this season's first matchup, on Jan. 12 in Tallahassee, Fla., Carolina defeated FSU 74-53.
The Tar Heels are No. 8 in this week's Associated Press poll and No. 7 in the ESPN/USA Today/WBCA coaches' poll. Florida State is among teams receiving votes in the coaches' poll.
Next up for UNC is another ACC home game, on Sunday against Clemson. Tipoff is 5:30 p.m. The game will be televised nationally by Fox Sports Net.
On the air
Thursday's game will air live on the Tar Heel Radio Network. The flagship station is 1360-AM WCHL. Stephen Gates is Carolina's play-by-play announcer and Jones Angell provides color commentary.

Tickets
Tickets to UNC women's basketball games are $5 for adults, $3 for students and seniors. There is no charge for admission for children 12 and under.
North Carolina students, faculty and staff are admitted free with their UNC One Cards.
Tickets may be purchased at the Carmichael Auditorium ticket window beginning one hour before the game or through the UNC ticket office by calling (919) 962-2296 or (800) 722-4335.
News of note
* UNC leads the series with Florida State 21-6. The Seminoles' last win at Carmichael was on Feb. 18, 2001 (80-78 in OT), and UNC has won the three matchups since then.
* With 22 points at Wake Forest on Sunday, senior Coretta Brown passed the 1,500-point mark for her career. She heads into Thursday's game with a total of 1,512, 14th in school history
* With a career total of 218 three-pointers, Coretta Brown needs three to take over seventh place on the ACC's career list. The current No. 7 is Tora Suber (220 from 1994-97 at Virginia).
* Junior guard Chrystal Baptist will miss the FSU game with a knee injury suffered on Feb. 7. Baptist, who also missed Sunday's game at Wake Forest, sprained the MCL in her right knee in the game against NC State. Her status is day-to-day.
* Three Tar Heel women's basketball players are among the 50 greatest female athletes in ACC history, according to the list released this week by the conference. Marion Jones, Tracy Reid and Charlotte Smith were among 15 Carolina athletes on the list, the most of any school. UNC also led the list of male athletes with 12.

Scouting the Florida State Seminoles
Florida State is 15-6 on the season and 7-3 in ACC play following a 57-52 loss on Sunday at NC State. Tasheika Morris led FSU with 14 points against the Wolfpack and Katelyn Vujas paced the team to a 41-31 rebounding advantage with nine boards. The Seminoles shot 34.6 percent from the field to 37.3 percent by NC State.
Morris is the team's top scorer, averaging 14.8 points per game. Genesis Choice averages 7.8 points and Vujas contributes 7.4, as well as a team-high 6.4 rebounds per game. Six other players average 4.6 points per game or more.
The Seminoles are coached by Sue Semrau, who is 75-88 in her sixth season with the program.
The North Carolina-Florida State series
Thursday's game will be the 28th meeting in a series that dates back to the 1981-82 season. North Carolina leads 21-6 after winning the last three meetings and 12 of the last 13. UNC won this season's first matchup 74-53 in Tallahassee on Jan. 12.
The Seminoles' last victory in the series was during the 2000-01 season, when they beat the Tar Heels 80-78 in overtime in Chapel Hill on Feb. 18, 2001.
* Last year at Carmichael (Feb. 4, 2002): Nikki Teasley scored 22 points and handed out nine rebounds to lead UNC to a 93-63 win, the team's largest margin of victory during 2002 ACC play. Coretta Brown scored 18 points and the Tar Heels got 12 points each from Jennifer Thomas and Candace Sutton.
Genesis Choice led three Seminoles in double figures with 14 points in just 17 minutes of play.
This year's first meeting
No. 10 North Carolina 74, Florida State 53 (Jan. 12, 2003)
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Coretta Brown scored 28 points to tie her career high as the 10th-ranked Tar Heels defeated Florida State 74-53 at Tallahassee-Leon County Civic Center. The victory extended North Carolina's winning streak to 11.
Brown scored nine points in a 17-3 run late in the first half that put the Tar Heels (14-1, 4-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) up 33-27 at the break. She also started and capped a 20-4 spurt to open the second half with a pair of 3-pointers.
Nikita Bell had 12 points for the Tar Heels, who had a 38-24 rebounding advantage that included 16 offensive boards.
Tasheika Morris led the Seminoles with 14 points and was the only Florida State player in double figures.

No. 7 North Carolina 67, Wake Forest 57
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - After losing three in a row in Winston-Salem, North Carolina pulled off a road win against the Demon Deacons, 67-57. The Tar Heels (21-2, 10-1) were led by Coretta Brown, who scored 22 points, grabbed seven rebounds and handed out five assists. Nikita Bell contributed 14 points and a team-high nine rebounds, and Kenya McBee came off the bench to add a season-high 11 points.
Tiffani Listenbee led Wake (10-11, 1-10 ACC) with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Cotelia Bond-Young was the only other player in double figures with 10 points.
Toward the end of a tight first half, UNC opened up a 10 point lead on a Brown three-pointer with 1:12 before halftime and held onto a 34-27 advantage at the break. The Tar Heels kept the lead throughout the second half but never got ahead by more than 10 points. The Demon Deacons were within two, 58-56, after a pair of free throws by Tonia Brown with 4:45 to play. UNC's lead was just four, 61-57, with 2:50 to play before the Tar Heels scored the last six points of the game, three by Bell and three by Brown.
