Carolina Postgame Notes vs. Wyoming
-- Rashad McCants scored 20 points. It was his 11th 20-point game of the season, extending his UNC freshmen record.
-- McCants now has 568 points, the second-most by a UNC freshman in history. He moved past Sam Perkins (550) tonight. Joseph Forte had 600 in 1999-2000. McCants is averaging 16.70 points per game. Forte set the freshman record at 16.67.
-- Raymond Felton set the UNC freshman assist record with 14. He broke Jeff Lebo's mark of 13 against Manhattan on Dec. 27, 1985. It equaled the third-most assists in a UNC game ever (17 by Lebo and Ed Cota).
-- Felon has 225 assist this year second among UNC freshmen (Cota had 235 in 1996-97).
-- Felton had 15 points and 14 assists, his third double-double in the last five games (also vs. Duke and Maryland).
-- Felton's 14 assists ties the NIT single game assist record.
-- Melvin Scott had a career-high 20 points (also a career-high eight field goals). It was the second time in the last four games he set a career scoring high (19 vs. Maryland). He had six field goals twice last year.
-- Scott had no turnovers tonight in 34 minutes. He has only one turnover in his last 134 minutes over his last four games. Scott was 4 for 7 from three-point range. He is now 16 for 28 (57.1 percent) over his last six games. He has scored 57 points in the last four games (14.3 ppg).
-- Carolina scored 90 points, the second-highest total this year (93 vs. North Carolina A&T). This is the fourth time in the last five games UNC has scored 80 or more points (only five times in previous 29 games).
-- Carolina made 34 field goals, equaling its season high (34 vs. North Carolina A&T).
-- Carolina had 27 assists on 34 baskets and only eight turnovers. The eight turnovers are a season low (10 vs. Virginia on Jan. 11). The assist/turnover ratio of plus 19 is the best this season.
-- This was the second time this year Carolina had five players in double figure scoring (vs. Wake Forest at home).
-- All five starters had more assists than turnovers. That is the first time this happened all year.
-- A win over Georgetown would send Carolina to the NIT semifinals for the first time since 1973 (lost to Notre Dame) would give Carolina 20 wins in a season for the 32nd time in the last 33 years would send Carolina to Madison Square Garden in NY for the third time this year.
