Tolleson Selected ACC Softball Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Senior centerfielder Tiffany Tolleson (Winter Haven, Fla.) was named Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week this afternoon after leading Carolina offensively yesterday with a .571 batting average. Tolleson went 4-for-7 in the ACC doubleheader, with three runs scored, one triple and one stolen base. It is her first ACC honor of the season.
Tolleson led off game one with a triple and got Carolina rolling in game one. She finished 2-for-3, with a triple and two runs scored as the Tar Heels rolled past the Cavaliers 10-2 (6). In the nightcap, the Winter Haven, Fla., native finished 2-for-4, with one run scored and a stolen base as UNC rallied in the 10th inning scoring two runs for a 3-2 victory.
Tolleson has led the Tar Heels all season and currently leads the conference with 62 hits. She is batting .446 on the season and needs 17 more stolen bases to overtake the career Division I lead of 196.
North Carolina hits the road for a non-conference doubleheader against the Elon Phoenix, Tuesday, April 15. The games are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
