No. 22 North Carolina travels to Raleigh this weekend for a three game series against the No. 6 NC State Wolfpack. The Tar Heels have a 32-12 overall record and 10-5 mark in the ACC, good for fourth in the conference. NC State is 34-9 overall and tied for second in the ACC with a 11-4 record. These will be the first ACC games to be played at newly renovated Doak Field. Carolina swept the Wolfpack last season in Chapel Hill for the first time since 1990.
The conference's leading hitter, Jeremy Cleveland, leads the Tar Heels into action with a .452 average. Cleveland also has 15 home runs and 53 RBIs and was named last week's ACC Player of the Week for the second time this season. Friday's starting pitcher for UNC will be Daniel Moore who has compiled a 5-0 record with a 3.38 ERA so far this season. The Wolfpack will send redshirt freshman Michael Rogers (9-1, 2.16 ERA) to the mound for game one of the series on Friday at 7 p.m.
Freshman Adam Kalkhof (7-1, 3.74 ERA) is scheduled to get the start for Carolina on Saturday against NC State's Vern Sterry (10-0, 2.61 ERA) at 1:30 p.m. Sunday's finale will also begin at 1:30 p.m. as UNC's Garry Bakker (6-2, 3.50 ERA) goes for his seventh victory. NC State's starter for the game is still to be determined.
ecause access to phone lines is currently limited at Doak Field, UNC's Gametracker will not be available. But you can listen to all the action online this weekend by clicking on the Audio Broadcast link on TarHeelBlue.Com.
