Thomas Selected For NCAA Leadership Conference

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina senior Jennifer Thomas, a member of the women's basketball team, has been selected to participate in the seventh-annual NCAA Leadership Conference, scheduled for May 25-29 in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Thomas is one of 302 student-athletes chosen to attend.
The conference is designed to enhance student-athletes' leadership and communication skills and enable them to be more effective leaders and motivators on their campuses. Participants will discuss a range of issues in intercollegiate athletics, including sportsmanship, recruiting visits, expectations of student-athletes and international student-athlete experiences. Each student-athlete will be asked to develop and implement a program to address a campus or community issue.
The participants were selected from a pool of 1,172 nomination forms submitted by NCAA schools in Divisions I, II and III.
Other participants from Atlantic Coast Conference schools are Marija Zoric (Clemson, volleyball), Ifeyinwa Anoliefo (Duke, track and field), Adam Wallace (Florida State, golf), Robert Brooks (Georgia Tech, basketball), Michael Fleg (Maryland, cross country/track and field), Jennifer Jassawalla (NC State, tennis), Anna Crosswhite (Virginia, basketball) and Michael Piscetelli (Wake Forest, track and field).
Student-athletes representing other area schools are Meredith Moody (Campbell, softball), Marques Jones (East Carolina, track and field), Brianna Williams (East Carolina, basketball/cross country), Jared Rudolph (Elon, soccer), Charles Eric Jones (UNC Greensboro, wrestling/track and field) and Ayana Kai Wright (N.C. Central, volleyball).
