In week four of the 2003 NFL season former University of North Carolina football players contributed substantially for their respective teams by way of the defensive game.
Former Tar Heel standout at linebacker, Brian Simmons of the Cincinnati engals, started at linebacker and had seven tackles, two assists and two pass deflections in Cincinnati's 21-14 victory over Cleveland.
In a 20-16 loss to Denver, former UNC All-American cornerback Dr? Bly, now playing for the Detroit Lions, had seven tackles, two assists, two pass deflections and one punt return for two yards. And, in another stellar performance at linebacker, David Thornton of the Indianapolis Colts, had 14 Tackles, including one tackle on special teams and one assist, in the Colts 55-14 victory over New Orleans.

Ethan Albright, Washington Redskins-started at long snapper in Washington's 20-17 victories over New England.
Dr? Bly, Detroit Lions-started at cornerback and had seven tackles, two assists, two pass deflections and one punt return for two yards in Detroit's 20-16 loss to Denver.
Alge Crumpler, Atlanta Falcons-started at tight end and had three receptions for 76 yards in a 23-3 loss to Carolina.
Ronald Curry, Oakland Raiders-substituted at wide receiver in the Raiders' 34-31 victory over San Diego.
Russell Davis, Arizona Cardinals-started at defensive tackle and had four tackles and two assists in a 37-13 loss to St. Louis.
Kevin Donnalley, Carolina Panthers-started offensive guard in Carolina's 23-3 victory over Atlanta.
Ebenbzer Ekuban, Dallas Cowboys- started at defensive end and has three tackles in the Cowboys' 17-6 victory over the NY Jets.
Greg Ellis, Dallas Cowboys- started at defensive end and had one tackle and one assist in the Cowboys' 17-6 victory over the NY Jets.
enardo Harris, Baltimore Ravens- did not play-injured reserve.
William Henderson, Green Bay Packers- started at fullback and had four receptions for 47 yards and one kickoff return for 15 yards in the Packers' 38-23 victory over Chicago.

Vonnie Holliday, Kansas City Chiefs- started at defensive end and had one assist in the Chiefs' 17-10 victory over Baltimore.
Leon Johnson, San Diego Chargers- substituted at running back and had three kickoff returns for 52 yards in the Chargers 34-31 loss to Oakland.
Freddie Jones, Arizona Cardinals- started at tight end in Arizona's 37-13 loss to St. Louis.

Julius Peppers, Carolina Panthers- started at defensive end and had three tackles in Carolina's 23-3 victory over Atlanta.
Jeff Reid, Pittsburgh Steelers- kicked both a 26-and a 23-yard field goal and one extra point in Pittsburgh's 30-13 loss to Tennessee.
Jeff Saturday, Indianapolis Colts- started at center in the Colts 55-21 victory over New Orleans.
