Felton Named Hardee's Student-Athlete of the Week

Raymond Felton was named Most Valuable Player of the 2004 Maui Invitational and is the Hardee's Carolina Student-Athlete of the Week for November 23-29, 2004. Felton led Carolina to the team championship in Hawaii with wins over YU, Tennessee and Iowa by an average margin of 21 points. He also led Tar Heels to a Sunday evening win over Southern California by 32 points.
For the four games, Felton averaged 8.8 points and 9.3 assists. The Latta, S.C., native had 37 assists and only 11 turnovers in the four games. UNC trailed for 20 seconds in the four games. The junior point guard helped UNC establish halftime leads of 30, 20, 19 and 28 points. He had 13 points and nine assists in Maui championship game against Iowa, despite playing with a painful left wrist sprain. Felton helped Carolina shoot 55.9 percent from the floor in the last three games.

Larkins was named to the Lady Rebel Shootout all-tournament team after scoring 22 points in Sunday's championship game, an 84-76 win over host UNLV. In last week's three games, all wins for the 5-0 Tar Heels, she came off the bench to average 15.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game while shooting.800 from the field. For the season, she ranks second on the team in scoring with 15.2 points per game and second in rebounding with 6.8 per game. She is shooting a team-best .765 from the field and .923 from the free throw line.

Evan Sola
Junior, 133 pounds

Sola, who is now 6-1 on the season and is currently ranked No. 6 nationally at 133 pounds, led the Tar Heels to a ninth-place finish at the Mat Town USA Invitational last Saturday. He opened with a 9-0 major decision over Minnesota's Manuel Rivera before pinning Maryland's Sean Carr in just 1:47 and downing B.J. Compton, 8-1, to reach the final. The Golden Gophers' Mack Reiter posted a 7-5 sudden victory win over Sola in the final. Sola was also the runner-up at last weekend's Missouri Open.
