Tar Heels To Face Georgia Tech in ACC Tournament

North Carolina will face Georgia Tech in the quarterfinals of the 2004 ACC Tournament on Friday, March 12 at 2:30 p.m. in Greensboro. Carolina finished the ACC regular-season 8-8 and is the No. 5 seed. Georgia Tech tied Wake Forest for third place at 9-7, but lost a coin flip on Sunday evening and enters as the No. 4 seed.
Carolina and Georgia Tech split a pair of meetings earlier this season, each winning at home. Carolina defeated the Yellow Jackets, 103-88, at the Smith Center. Georgia Tech won in Atlanta, 88-77, later in the season.
Carolina is the No. 5 seed in the ACC Tournament for just the fourth time since the tournament began in 1954. The last time was in 1964. The Tar Heels are 1-3 as the No. 5 seed. A No. 5 seed has never won the ACC Tournament.
