Felton Named Hardee's Student-Athlete of the Week

Junior guard Raymond Felton had 12 points, six assists and five rebounds to lead fourth-ranked North Carolina to a 109-75 win over Maryland. Felton is the Hardee's Carolina Student-Athlete of the Week for January 3-9, 2005.
Felton, still playing with a heavily wrapped left wrist because of an injury he suffered in January, committed just one turnover in 27 minutes of action as the Tar Heels scored the most points ever by a UNC team against the Terps. The Latta, S.C., native scored all 12 of his points in the first half as UNC rallied from a 29-24 deficit to go on a 23-3 run. The Tar Heels went into the break leading by 13 points and soon upped the lead to 40 points in the second half.

Atkinson defeated Maryland's Jason Kiessling at 165 pounds to help lead the Tar Heels to a 36-3 victory in their Atlantic Coast Conference opener. Atkinson posted a 3-1 win over Kiessling, who entered the match with a 20-7 record on the season and was last week's ACC Co-Wrestler of the Week. Atkinson is now 11-10 on the season.
