Tate Named Freshman All-America By The Sporting News

Chapel Hill, N.C. ------ North Carolina's Brandon Tate has been named a first-team freshman All-America by The Sporting News. A true freshman in 2005, Tate was among the nation's top kick and punt returners all season. He is currently ranked third in the ACC in kickoff and punt returns. Nationally, he ranks 23rd in kickoff returns with a 25.8 average.
A native of Burlington, N.C., Tate returned the opening kickoff vs. Utah 96 yards for a touchdown.
Tate was also named to The Sporting News All-ACC Freshman first team.
