The University of North Carolina men's basketball team will play four of its last six games of the 2004-05 regular season at home, beginning on Wednesday night when it hosts Virginia at 7 p.m. in the Smith Center. The game will be televised nationally by ESPN.
UNC Athletics, in conjunction with ESPN and Nike, will be conducting a "80s Retro Night" at the game. Both teams will wear uniforms worn in the 1980s, and ESPN's broadcast will feature 80s graphics.
Carolina won at Virginia, 110-76 on Jan. 29 in the midst of a five-game winning streak snapped by last Wednesday night's loss to Duke. UNC responded to the loss to the Blue Devils with a hard-fought win over No. 19/14 Connecticut in Hartford, Conn., on Sunday. This season, Carolina is 20-3 and second Atlantic Coast Conference with an 8-2 conference mark.
UNC is ranked No. 4 in the Associated Press and ESPN/USAToday Coaches polls this week. The Tar Heels reached a season-high No. 2 in both polls for two straight weeks before losing at Duke last Wednesday night. Virginia is unranked but is coming off three straight victories (over NC State, Florida State and Viginia Tech).
After Wednesday night's game, Carolina will host Clemson on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Smith Center.
