Meg Freshwater Named Hardee's Student-Athlete of the Week

Meg Freshwater scored a pair of goals including the game-winner as Carolina beat Duke, 12-11, in women's lacrosse action and is the Hardees Student-Athlete of the Week for March 7-13, 2005. The freshman forward from Charlottesville netted the game-winner with 2:35 to play as No. 8 Carolina beat the fourth-ranked Blue Devils.

Martin Ureta fired a two-under-par 214 total to finish in a tie for third place at the Seminole Intercollegiate in Tallahassee, Fla., the Tar Heels' first action of the spring campaign. Ureta fired a four-under 68 in the second round along with two 73s in the first and final rounds. He led the Tar Heels to a fourth-place finish in the 12-team field event.

Webb helped the Tar Heels break out of their hitting slump with a .667 week at the plate, including two home runs, five runs scored and eight runs batted in. After going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI in Carolina's 12-7 win over No. 20 College of Charleston Wednesday, Webb followed with a career-best showing in the 17-3 victory at Virginia Tech. He had career-highs of four hits and seven RBI and homered twice against the Hokies. Webb hit a grand slam in the seventh inning and followed with a three-run shot in the eighth for homers in back-to-back at-bats. Webb slugged 1.333 for the week and posted a .700 on-base percentage. On the season, he leads the Tar Heels with a .394 average and four homers and ranks second on the team with 12 RBI. Webb also played four positions on the week: catcher, first base, third base and right field.
