GREENSBORO, N.C. -- North Carolina freshman Rashanda McCants has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week, the ACC announced Monday. The award is the first of McCants' career.

In a 65-53 win over No. 25 NC State on Sunday, McCants again scored seven points and had three rebounds and two more blocked shots in 22 minutes of action. She also had a steal and two assists and was 4-for-4 from the free throw line for the game.
On the week, McCants averaged 7.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game in an average of 21 minutes of playing time. She shot 40.0 percent from the field (4-for-10) and was 5-for-6 from the free throw line (83.3 percent).
Duke guard Lindsey Harding earned ACC Player of the Week honors.
