-Yael Averbuch's hat trick ties the Carolina school record for most goals in an NCAA Tournament game. Lindsay Tarpley was the last Tar Heel to register three goals in an NCAA Tournament game in 2005 against Virginia Commonwealth and Pepperdine.

-Carolina extended its winning streak to 22 games, tops in NCAA Division 1, with the win over UNC Asheville. The Tar Heels last lost in this season's opener against Texas A&M.

-Elizabeth Guess scored her 30th career goal for UNC and her 15th in postseason (ACC and NCAA Tournament) play. She also moved to 28th on the Carolina career points list with 95 and tied Lori Chalupny for the same spot on the Carolina career goals list.

-Heather O'Reilly moved into a tie with Tiffany Roberts for 15th place on the Carolina career assists list with 44.

-Today's game was the first meeting between the two UNC system schools.
