Gymnastics To Face NC State In Two Meets This Weekend

The North Carolina gymnastics team heads to NC State Friday for the Wolfpack Invitational. Friday's meet will be at 7 p.m. at Reynolds Coliseum, and both teams will have a day of rest before NC State travels to Carmichael Auditorium to face Carolina and George Washington on Sunday at 1 p.m.
NC State enters the meet ranked fourth in the EAGL standings. This is the second meeting between the two clubs this year. The two teams met at the Governor's Cup on February 4th, a meet in which the Tar Heels had their best performance of the year. The gymnasts swept every event to win the 11th annual Governor's Cup for the fifth time in six years, triumphing over NC State, Maryland and Towson. The Tar Heels established a season-high score of 195.050 to dominate over runner-up and host team Maryland (192.375). NC State finished in third with a score of 192.250.
The North Carolina gymnastics team (10-5) enters Friday's meet with fresh legs after having the past two weeks free of competition. Their last meet was a tough loss on February 10th in Gainesville, Florida. Carolina struggled at the meet, finishing fourth with a score of 193.125. Host team Florida finished in first place with a score of 196.950. West Virginia claimed second (194.200), and Arkansas narrowly trailed for third place with a score 194.025.
The Wolfpack (8-5) are coming off a second place (191.200) finish at home on Sunday February 19. Florida won the meet with a score of 195.950 and William & Mary placed third (186.725).
Carolina and NC State will begin this weekend's battle at 7 p.m. Friday at Reynolds Coliseum on the campus of NC State.
