The Milwaukee Bucks selected former University of North Carolina forward David Noel in the second round of Wednesday night's National Basketball Association Draft in New York, N.Y.
"I had been hearing a lot of talk with my agent and with the Bucks' organization that they were very interested with the No. 39 and that I was definitely in their top three to be taken," Noel said in a teleconference on Wednesday night.
Noel was one of four Atlantic Coast Conference players to be selected in the first 40 picks on Wednesday night. Duke's Shelden Williams went No. 5 overall to Atlanta, Duke's J.J. Redick went at No. 11 to Orlando and NC State's Cedric Simmons went at No. 15 to the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets.
Noel was selected by his teammates as the Most Valuable Player of the 2005-06 Carolina team that went 23-8 and finished No. 10 in the final Associated Press poll. He averaged 12.9 points and 6.8 rebounds, had 107 assists, 23 blocks and 34 steals last season. Noel was named second-team All-ACC in March.
Italian forward Andrea Bargnani was the first overall pick, followed by Texas forward LaMarcus Aldridge, Gonzaga forward Adam Morrison, Louisiana State forward Tyrus Thomas and Duke's Williams.
