Eleven Tar Heels Advance To Main Draw of ITA Mideast Regional Singles

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. - Eleven University of North Carolina men's tennis players have advanced to the 128-man main singles draw for the 2007 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Mideast Regional which begins Thursday at the Boars Head Inn and Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va. Seniors Benjamin Carlotti and Will Plyler, junior Taylor Fogleman and sophomores Chris Kearney, Clay Donato and Stefan Hardy were seeded into the main draw while five of the six Tar Heel players who competed in the qualifying phase of singles have advanced to the main draw after play Wednesday.
In the qualifying singles Wednesday seniors Sandeep Daiya and Tristan Heinrich each won three matches to earn their spots in the main draw Thursday while seniors Karl Wishart and David Stone and sophomore Andrew Crone each won a pair of matches. Redshirt freshman Kyle Baker's Round of 32 match in qualifying was not finished as of press time.
