ATLANTA, GA. - The University of North Carolina men's and women's swimming teams finished competition Saturday in the 2007 ConocoPhillips United States Swimming Short Course National Championships. Sophomore Ashley Howard qualified for the "C" final in the 200-yard backstroke where she swam a 2007-08 ACC season best of 1:57.84 to finish second in the "C" final and 18th overall.

Howard placed 20th in the 200-yard backstroke at 2:00.15. Two other female swimmers were in action Saturday. Senior Kelsey Morrissy finished 28th in the 100-yard freestyle at 50.31 while freshman Rebecca Kane was 92nd in a time of 51.82.
Harris had his third outstanding swim of the Championships as he set season bests in the 500 free, 400 IM and 200 fly. His time of 1:49.65 in the 200 fly placed him 28th and the time ranks third in the ACC this season. His 500 free time Thursday is seventh in the ACC in 2007-08 and his 400 IM was a University record and the No. 1 time in the ACC by over 2.7 seconds.
