NORTH CAROLINA POST-GAME QUOTES
Head Coach John Haus
Opening Statement:
"It was a tale of two halves. The Tar Heels played very well in the first half. We did what we needed to do to be successful. Quite frankly, in the second half they just blew us up. They played very well."
Reflecting on the 2007 season:
"I told the guys in the locker room that it was night and day. For most of this season we played exceptionally well. We had the right attitude and a strong work ethic. These kids did everything they could to help this program be successful this year and hopefully for what will be years to come."
"I love this team I have. Every kid did a heck of a job out there today and all season long. This is a talented group that understands how hard you have to work to get to this position. I am disappointed today, but I am very excited for next year. The Tar Heels will be back."
On the difference in today's contest:
"They just outdid us in most categories. You can go down the line. They did a nice job in the face-off circle, they picked up more ground balls, and they also had a lot of bounces go their way. They were much more successful getting to the ball in the second half. We played entirely too much defense against an exceptional offensive team. They shot the ball incredibly well."
Senior midfielder David Ryan:
On the first half:
"We came out on fire. We came into the break and talked about it. We just looked to our senior leadership and just knew we would come back out and play our game. We knew this group could run with them."
On the second half:
"In the second half, we came out with the same attitude. Our mentality never changed. Things just fell apart. I am not sure what happened differently."
"I didn't think we played up to our potential in the second half. I thought we were a little too tentative."
On losing to Duke for the third time this spring:
"You never want to lose to Duke. It stings a lot more being the third time."
