Women's Golf Finishes Third After First Round

WILMINGTON, N.C. - The University of North Carolina women's golf team is in third place after the first round of play in The Women's Landfall Tradition. The Tar Heels finished with a score of 305 on the day. Wake Forest University is in first place with nine-over 297 after the first day, and Ohio State University finished second with 303.
Freshman Allie White, of Lancaster, Ohio, and junior Kate Thomas, of Murwillumbah, Australia, are tied for eighth with a three-over par on the day. Sydney Crane, a senior from Jamestown, N.C., shot a four over 76 to tie for 14th. Lauren Hunt, a senior from Little River, S.C., tied for 19th with a score of seven-over par. Freshman Catherine O'Donnell, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., struggled with bogeys on the day but finished 11-over par and tied for 44th.
Natalie Sheary of Wake Forest finished at par for first place on the board. Ohio State University's Vicky Villanueva shot a one-over par to place second. Five are tied for third with a 74: Kelsey Lindenschmidt of Northwestern University, Amber Littman of East Carolina University, Emily Street of North Carolina State, and Andrea Watts and Evan Jensen both of the University of Florida.
Play will continue through Sunday at the Country Club of Landfall. The Jack Nicklaus course featured in the tournament is a par-72 with 6,064 yards.
