Nicks, Burney Named ACC Players Of The Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- North Carolina wide receiver Hakeem Nicks and cornerback Kendric Burney headline the Atlantic Coast Conference Football Players of the Week for the games of Oct. 25. Nicks scored four touchdowns in the Tar Heels' 45-24 win over Boston College while Burney had two interceptions and eight solo tackles. Joining them this week are Virginia tackle Will Barker, Florida State defensive end Everette Brown, Florida State kicker Graham Gano and Miami quarterback Robert Marve.
OFFENSIVE BACK--Hakeem Nicks, North Carolina, WR, 6-1, 210, Jr., Charlotte, N.C. In North Carolina's 45-24 victory over No. 23 Boston College, Nicks became the first Tar Heel to score four touchdowns in a game since 2006. He had a career-high three touchdown receptions (26, 40 and 43 yards) in the second quarter and scored on a 12-yard run in the fourth quarter. Nicks finished with eight catches for 139 yards receiving and three carries for 31 yards. It was his fourth 100-yard receiving game of the season and the ninth of his career.
DEFENSIVE BACK--Kendric Burney, North Carolina, CB, 5-9, 185, So., Jacksonville, N.C. urney intercepted two passes, broke up a pass and posted eight tackles, including one for a 2-yard loss, in UNC's 45-24 win over No. 23 Boston College. With 3:45 remaining in the first half, Burney intercepted a Chris Crane pass on the boundary to give the Tar Heels possession on the Eagle 44-yard line, eventually leading to a North Carolina touchdown. On Boston College's first possession of the second half, Burney stepped in front of the receiver and weaved his way 37 yards to the Eagles' 1-yard line to set up a Tar Heel touchdown.
