Techniques and strategies of proper base running will be taught to help every athlete think, react, and score more runs!
*PITCHING AND CATCHING WILL NOT BE COVERED DURING THIS SESSION.
Get Ready To Hit! - 2-5pm
Want to improve your offense for the upcoming season? This clinic will be designed to improve your offensive potential by working on a short, aggressive swing. You will drill the necessary fundamental, mechanical and explosive movements that are keys to becoming a better hitter. In addition, the Right View Pro hitting software will be used to break down the swing. Finally, to improve your swing, specialty bunts and slapping from the left side will be covered.
Monday, January 19
Pitching The Rise And The Change - 9:30am-12:30pm
Beverly Smith and the UNC Pitching Staff will teach the rise ball and changeup. Come see the Tar Heel pitchers demonstrate both
pitches. Learn the proper spin and body position for the rise ball as well as drills that can be added to your pitching workouts. Need a new changeup? The entire clinic will learn the backdoor change. This changeup is easy to learn and extremely effective. It is recommended that pitchers have a strong fundamental base and understanding of pitching mechanics prior to attending. Only 12" balls will be used. Pitchers do not need to bring a catcher with them. Pitchers and catchers will work together for the last portion of the clinic.
Catching - 9:30am-12:30pm
Do you want to improve your game behind the plate? This session is designed to concentrate on the many necessary skills of a catcher. Catchers will work on throwing, blocking, framing, signals, tag-plays, bunt coverage, steals, pick-offs and more! Come drill and refine your catching mechanics with our UNC Catchers.
