Hansbrough Named Progress Energy Performer Of The Week
February 4, 2008 | Men's Basketball
Feb. 4, 2008

Tyler Hansbrough averaged 20 points and 13.5 rebounds in Carolina's two wins over Boston College and at Florida State and is the Progress Energy Tar Heel of the Week for January 28-February 3, 2008. He had 22 points and a career-high 21 rebounds at Florida State in an overtime win. The Poplar luff, Mo., native had 19 points in the final 25 minutes, including eight points in overtime, out-scoring the Seminoles, 8-6, by himself in the extra five minutes. The 21 rebounds were a career high and the most by a Tar Heel since Sean May had 24 against Duke in 2005. That was also the last time a UNC player had a 20-point, 20-rebound game. It was his 12th double-double of the year...made 12 of 14 from the line at FSU and in the process set UNC's alltime record for most free throws made in a career. The two-time All-America moved past Lennie Rosenbluth, who set the record with 603 from 1954-57. Hansbrough led a balanced UNC effort in the 91-69 win over the Eagles, leading the way with 18 points.
