Roy Williams-coached teams have entered the postseason league tournament as the league's regular season champion on seven occasions. Those teams have won three league tournaments (ACC in 2007, Big XII in 1997 and '98). But of the four regular season champions that did not win the league tournament title, three advanced to at least the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament (2005, 2003, 2002).

Carolina hasn't been the top-seeded team in a Charlotte-hosted ACC Tournament since 1993. The Tar Heels are 8-1 all-time in Charlotte as the league's top seed but have claimed just two tournament titles in the ACC's last nine trips to Charlotte.

Carolina's 29 regular-season wins are the most in school history. The previous ACC-era record-holders were the 1987 and 1998 teams, which each posted 27 victories.

Just three times in school history has Carolina closed the regular season with a win at Duke and then gone on to win the ACC Tournament (1957, 1975, and 1994).

At the close of the regular season, this year's team is on pace to rank in the top-3 all-time at Carolina in scoring (would rank third at 89.7 points per game) and free throw percentage (would tie for second at 76.1%). Depending on the number of games remaining, the 2008 team could also set school records for most rebounds, most points scored, and most victories.
