- This year's 12 road wins are an ACC-era school record.
- The Tar Heels are trying to cap the first season in ten years in which they have spent the entire season ranked in the AP's top 5. The last such season was 1998; other occurrences were 1969, 1972, 1982, 1984, 1987, 1994, and 1995.
- In addition to his offensive exploits, Tyler Hansbrough ranks second on the team with seven defensive player of the game awards (Marcus Ginyard is first with nine awards).
- Roy Williams-coached teams have never lost a senior day game (a streak of 20 straight games).
- Florida State's only other trip to Chapel Hill on senior day ended in an 84-80 Seminole victory (Feb. 24, 1996).
