GREENSBORO, N.C. - North Carolina pitchers Colin Bates and Adam Warren were named to the 2008 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Team, which was announced Friday by commissioner John Swofford. Warren was also named to the squad in 2006, while Bates is a first-time selection.

Warren, a junior business administration major from New Bern, N.C., went 9-2 with a 4.23 ERA, primarily as the Tar Heels' Saturday starter last season. In 83 innings, he struck out 73 and walked 46. Warren is Carolina's career leader in winning percentage with a 22-2 career record over the last three seasons.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned at least a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained at least a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
