Tsang And Featherston Fall In Vegas Final

LAS VEGAS, Nev. and CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. --- North Carolina's Katrina Tsang and Shinann Featherston advanced to the flight one doubles final of the Freeman Memorial Tennis Championships at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Sunday before falling to top-seeded and No. 2-ranked Renata Kucerkova and Anastasia Petukhova of Fresno State, 8-5. Tsang and Featherston topped Kelcy McKenna and Micaela Hein of Arizona State in the semifinals. Tsang also defeated UCLA's Ashley Joelson in an added singles match, 6-3, 6-3.
Meanwhile, at the UVa Winter Invitational at the Boyd Tinsley Courts at the Boar's Head Sports Club, the Tar Heels had mixed results in a modified dual match with No. 14 Arkansas. UNC won three of nine matches from the Lady'Backs, including a flight D singles win by Laura Reichert over Nanar Airapetian, 6-2, 6-0.
Carolina topped Arkansas at flights B and C doubles, with Meg Fanjoy and Reichert topping Aurelija Miseviciute and Ela Kaluder, 8-2, and Haley Hemm and Austin Smith besting Emily Carbone and Ekaterina Lukomskaya, 8-6.
The UVa Winter Invitational wraps up Monday with Carolina facing the host Cavaliers in a series of matches.
