College football players spend four years showing off their skills to professional teams. Then, in the span of about a week, those same pro teams can change their minds about those same college players. That's what happens at end-of-season senior showcases like the Senior Bowl, where Tar Heel receiver Brooks Foster is trying to impress scouts. The good news? He definitely seems to be moving up draft boards.
In Wednesday's edition of Sporting News Today, the publication names Foster as one of the players who impressed at Tuesday's practice.
According to a group of former scouts that observed the practice: "Foster was really good Tuesday. He ran very sharp routes and showed quickness out of his cuts to get a little space. He showed excellent hands, both plucking the high ball out of air and making the tough catch on off-target passes down the field. He used hands well to fight through press and contact and to get a little space when CB was close to him."
Carolina placed three receivers in a recent top 20 position list DraftCountdown.com. ESPN's site is even more optimistic, as they have Hakeem Nicks ranked in the top 26 players available overall. The 2009 NFL Draft will be held April 25-26.
